9600 Baud Data Modems

Using our MO-96 Modem with special versions of our
144, 220, or 450 MHz Transmitters and Receivers,
it is possible to have a low-cost method of transmitting 9600 baud data.

TheMO-96 is a signal processing and control board which looks similar to the MO-202 but is designed for direct FSK transmission, which allows higher speed than the AFSK tones used in the MO-202 system.

The MO-96 has a TTL interface for connection to your computer equipment or any packet radio TNC which can operate with an external modem (TTL interface).

The 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 inch MO-96 board operates on 13.6Vdc. It contains several low-pass filters to optimize the data waveform for transmission on NBFM channels, and it has provision for optional voice input. Adjustments are provided for transmit frequency and deviation. A voltage regulator provides frequency stability. A high current transistor switch turns on the exciter and pin-diode antenna switch on the PA.

The receiver section of the MO-96 board has a special data detector with a low-pass filter, peak detectors, and a slicer for data integrity. A special fast squelch circuit in the receiver provides an RCD handshake to the TNC or computer.

PRICES:

MO-96 Packet Radio Networking Modem Kit only $59.  Not avail wired/tested.

Crystal-controlled exciters and receivers: add "HS" to model # and $30 to price.

(Note: PA's shown above are no longer available.)

Note: FSK data transmission requires good frequency stability to avoid data error. Choose the lowest frequency band available for your application.
