After years of struggling to adapt off-the-shelf aluminum boxes for use with our transmitters and receivers, we decided to design our own with just the right dimensions and features! We wanted it to be large enough to house typical pc board modules and combinations of modules, such as an exciter or an exciter with a data modem or a ctcss module. The new enclosure is made of rugged aircraft aluminum with gold alodine finish. It is well shielded, with tight fitting seams, so it can be used in critical applications, such as repeaters. The enclosure comes with antenna connector and three high- quality rf pi-type feed through filters. It also comes with the angle nuts and screws used to hold the cover on. Other hardware and accessories are available on our accessory page, including coax cable, RCA plugs, module mounting standoffs. Difficult-to-drill holes for the antenna and feedthroughfilters are already machined for you. You only need to add holes for mounting various pc boards or for receiver volume and squelch controls. The cover has convenient mounting flanges to allow the unit to be fastened to any flat surface. Sufficient clearance is provided under the chassis to allow for mounting hardware and the stud on rf power transistors. As an option, a type 'N' jack can be substituted for the uhf jack.
